App: Remainder: Tasks & Alerts (package com.remindly.tasks)

This Privacy Policy explains how Remainder (“the App”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use the Android app. By using Remainder, you agree to this policy.
Summary
- Remainders, tasks, notes, attachments, and most settings stay on your phone and are not uploaded to our servers.
- Google Sign-In is optional and is used only to buy or restore an Unlimited subscription.
- We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.
Information stored on your device
The following is saved locally on your phone (for example in the App’s private storage). It is not sent to our servers:
- Remainders and tasks: titles, notes, times, repeat rules, categories, checklists, snooze/done state
- Optional attachments: photos or videos you choose from camera or gallery
- Optional contact name and phone number attached to a remainder (from the system Contacts picker or typed by you)
- App preferences: theme, alert sound, display name for the home greeting, screen-lock preference
Android Auto Backup and device-to-device transfer of App data are disabled, so this content is not copied through Google backup as part of the App.
Information we collect online (optional)
If you sign in with Google to purchase or restore Unlimited, we may store:
- Your Google account email address
- Subscription status needed to unlock Unlimited (for example active or not, product, and expiry), verified through Google Play Billing and our Cloud Function, and stored in Firebase
This data is used only for App functionality: unlocking and restoring Unlimited on your devices. Remainders and tasks still stay on the phone.
If you never sign in, we do not collect your email or subscription profile in Firebase for this purpose.
Contacts
You may attach one phone number to a remainder. Choosing a contact uses the system picker; the App does not scan your full contact list or call history, and does not upload contacts. Tapping Call opens the phone dialer; Remainder does not place the call itself.
Photos and media
If you attach a photo or video, it is stored with that remainder on your device. The App does not upload these files to our servers.
Screen lock and biometrics
Optional App lock uses your device PIN, pattern, password, or biometric via the Android system prompt. Biometric data stays on the device and is never sent to us. Your display name for the greeting is stored only on the phone.
Notifications, alarms, and device permissions
To alert you on time (including on the lock screen after reboot), the App may use permissions such as notifications, exact alarms, vibration, wake lock, full-screen intent, foreground service for alert playback, and battery-optimization exemption when you grant them. These permissions are for reminder delivery, not for advertising or tracking.
Payments
Subscriptions are sold and billed by Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Google’s own privacy policy applies to Play purchases.
Third-party services
Depending on how you use the App, these providers may process limited data:
- Google Play Billing — purchases and subscription status
- Google Sign-In / Firebase Authentication — optional account for Unlimited
- Firebase / Cloud Functions — store and update subscription status tied to your signed-in account
We do not use third-party advertising SDKs or sell personal information.
How we use information
- Provide remainders, tasks, and alerts on your device
- Process and restore Unlimited subscriptions when you sign in
- Respond to privacy or support requests you send us
Data sharing
We do not sell your data. We share information only as needed to operate the App (Google Play, Firebase/Google Sign-In as described above), or if required by law.
Data retention and deletion
- On-device data: delete individual remainders in the App, or uninstall the App to remove local App data from that device.
- Signed-in subscription data: you can sign out in the App. To request deletion of your Firebase subscription record associated with your email, contact us using the support email on the Google Play store listing and include the email address used to sign in.
Children
Remainder is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided such information through Google Sign-In, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Online account and subscription traffic uses encrypted connections (HTTPS) to Google and Firebase. On-device remainder content stays in the App’s private storage on your phone.
International access
If you use optional Sign-In, Firebase/Google may process data in regions where those services operate. By using Sign-In features, you understand this processing is necessary to provide Unlimited restore.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
